To complement the EVAN conference we have arranged to organize a special issue with the journal Natural Hazards. Talks from the conference will form the basis for papers in this special issue, although additional contributions are welcome. Papers describing and analysis of extremes of a wide range of geophysical variables (i.e. temperature, rainfall, flows, sea level, winds, surface ocean waves, snow) and works related to natural hazards (floods, windstorms, wave storms, heat waves, droughts, landslides) are welcome. Manuscripts can be submitted between now and January 1st 2018. More information is available here. We are looking forward to receiving many interesting contributions.
We currently invite papers for a special issue “Coastal Sea Levels, Impacts and Adaptation” that is organized in collaboration with the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering. More information, including a list of topics and deadlines for the submission of manuscripts can be found here.
In 2017 my colleagues Ivan Haigh, Ben Gouldby, Pietro Bernadara and myself are hosting the 3rd International Conference on Advances in Extreme Value Analysis and Application to Natural Hazarzs (EVAN2017). The conference will take place from Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 September 2017 at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK. The overall aim of the conference is to bring together and promote interchange between a diverse community of research scientists, students, practitioners and stakeholders concerned with this complex and inter-disciplinary topic.
At this year’s AGU Fall Meeting we are hosting a session on Extreme Sea Levels and Coastal Risks in a Changing Climate. The conference will take place from the 12 to 17 December in San Francisco. We received over 50 abstracts which will be presented during two oral sessions and a poster session.
